The invention of the bicycle in the 19th century opened up a new and popular method of transport, used throughout the country for travelling, sport and leisure. by the 1930s, cycling was at its most popular and bicycles were affordable enough for almost everyone. A roaring trade in cycling handbooks and manuals advised people on maintaing their bicycles.
Our posters have been adapted from a 1936 manual, and are hand printed on 300gsm Somerset mould-made paper using our 1863 Albion printing press.
